To minimize emissions of dioxins / furans, there needs to be a policy management to control Objective: This study aimed to estimate the emissions of dioxins / furans from hospital incinerators and explore control management policy that has been done either by the hospital or authorized institution. Methods: This study was conducted using qualitative research approach to the calculation of estimates of dioxin emissions / furans and continued qualitative analysis to determine control management policy. The target data selected from the chief sanitary installations. Triangulation with indepth interview were done to the director of the hospital, recovery Head of the Environment Agency and Head of Environmental Health Yogyakarta, and staff of radiation protection and waste air Ministry of Health. Results : Exposure to Emissions of dioxin / furan medical waste incinerators ranged from .606 to 0 , 779 gTEQ / year . Emission control in terms of management functions is not optimal views of the lack of planning , waste minimization instructions , quality standards and weak supervision . While the management of the means of control is also not good because of the weak capacity of waste management officers , the lack of application of the 3R principle ( reduse , Reuse , Recycle ) Standard Operating Procedure absence waste minimization , and machine largely licensed incinerator . Proposed control policy is the government needs to create quality standards , facilitate the licensing bureaucracy incinerator , provide equipment and laboratories to check the emission of dioxin / furans , and further improve coordination to provide guidance and supervision.
