Decomposition process can be held if there is a material that decomposed, decomposition agent, and enviromental condition that favor this process. The decomposed material in this study is the form of various types litter of gamal (Gliricidia sepium) that considered by leaves, twigs and fruit leather. The decomposition agent that observed is the population of fungal that decompossed the litter. The research was conducted in the two season, they are dry and rainy season to know the population dynamics of fungal that decomposed the litter. The research was conducted on plots 5 (±44 years old) and 6 (±28 years old) education foerst of Wanagama I Yogyakarta by using litterbag method. This research was held twice for dry season and rainy on August 2012 and January 2013. Sampling was done every two weeks once and also performed environment data collections. Fungal population was calculated using the plate count method for subsequent analyzed data with descriptive quantitativly. The total population of fungal that decomposed the litter ranged about 103 - 106 CFU/g, whereas in leaf litter more dominant than the twigs and fruit leather. It is influence by the characteristics of gamal leaves that contain by thin compounds and easily decomposed than twigs and fruit leather tend to be hard. The fungal population that decompose the litter on plots 5 (±44 years old) and 6 (±28 years old) are relative to same. It is related to the type of gamal are that renders leaves in the dry season and effected on the accumulation of light in the two plots is almost the same. The fluctuation of fungal population happened in the temperature range of 350C - 360C and maximum moisture 88.67% - 90%. The fungal population in dry season tend to be much less during the rainy season. The population was increase when high rainfall, although the impact of the increasing number of rain is giving degradation of organic matter that associated with reduction in fungi that decompose the litter, especially during the rainy season.
