Therefore, high voltage equipment requiring electrical isolation to isolate the high voltage components with the equipment and the environment. Safety device that is commonly used is the shoe workers. Most shoes use a mat made of rubber or rubber mixture. For the use of materials on this test rubber test sold in the market as a footwear or shoe soles. Besides the rubber materials, other materials such as mikanit also tested for comparison with the test material rubber. The purpose of this study was to determine the breakdown voltage of the AC and dielectric strength of each test material and know the value of leakage current from each of the test material. Breakdown voltage is used as the maximum input leakage current testing. Expected from the results of this research note that the properties in question by considering other factors, these materials can be used as an alternative to insulating materials in electrical equipment. This study begins with the measurement of thickness, then discuss major breakdown voltage and dielectric strength testing followed by leakage current. The test results stated that mikanit has a higher dielectric strength than the butyl rubber mikanit when the thickness is much thinner than the butyl rubber. With the same thickness, leakage current mikanit greater than that for butyl rubber insulators soles as human safety against high voltage better use of rubber material.
