Summary:The overused of energy for building air conditioning can be minimized by reducing external heat which flow trhough the building envelope. Energy savings opportunities can be done by reducing the Overall Thermal Transfer Value (OTTV). According to Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) �Konversi Energi Selubung Bangunan pada Bangunan Gedung� 03-6389-2000 the maximum value of OTTV is 45 W/m2. During the years of 2011, the maximum value changes into 35 W/m2. It indicates that the building envelope plays an important role on energy consumption. The OTTV of the first floor of Novotel Hotel is 24.69 W/m2. The paint colors and the glass shadingsare some of the factorsthat effect OTTV. The OTTV increased into 37.07 W/m2 by applying paint colour with absorption value as high as α = 0.88.Neglecting the glass shading on east and south side of the building increasedthe OTTV up to 28.35 W/m2. It can be concluded that this element and the selected wall color contributedto the Novotel Hotel OTTV optimization.
