Summary: | The Segara Anakan is a lagoon situated in Cilacap District. As a dynamic system,
Segara Anakan posses potencies beside problems. One of those problems is land quality
degradation that believed occurred due to land use change caused by human activities.
According to previous researcher, it is confirmed that the land use changes in this
catchment area are driven by human migration as a kind of human activity. This migration
are affected and affecting social, physical condition. Thus, it is important to investigate the
character of migration in this catchment to find what the background and what the impact is.
To meet this important, this research will answer: 1) who and how many people migrated, 2)
from where to where they move, 3) when, how and why they migrated.
Human migration both permanent and temporary is an important factor in the social
dynamics and regional development in the catchment area of Segara Anakan lagoon. There
were several times of migration to, from and within the catchment area along 1850-2010.
Some of those migrations were forced and voluntary migration. Forced migration were
mostly driven by safety reason, political force and disaster, while voluntary migration driven
by wider economic chance in destination region. Migrations in the catchment of Segara
Anakan lagoon were mostly followed by people on the labor force age. People were unable to
decide or choose where they will be relocated in forced migration. It is different with the
voluntary one, people are able to decide when and where they will move.
The impact of migration on the social aspect can be seen on todays social order of
society. Such as languages used on daily talk, the told history and life order within society.
While physical aspect can be seen on todays land use and land cover. |
