Summary: | Sandy coastal area in Batul district has a specific ecological probelm. Hot
and arid land, strong wind cause coastal area usage less. Therefore, it is
necessary to solve the problem that occur in coastal area. One of the solution is to
reclaim the sandy coastal area using Casuarinas Equisetifolia. Casuarinas
Equisetifolia suitable for use as pioneer plant to solve the problem in the coastal
area which can grow well in the hot and arid land. Casuarinas Equisetifolia has
given a considerable influence on the micro climate. Casuarinas Equisetifolia
can be a micro climate control by absorbing solar radiation and becoming wind
barrier.
According to the background, then be measured against climate parameter
to determine the effect of Casuarinas Equisetifolia to the micro climate. The
research was conducted in Srandakan Coastal Area, Bantul Distict by measuring
micro climate parameters, such as wind speed, temperature, relative humidity,
rainfall, and evaporation, in reclaimed coastal area and non-reclaimed coastal
area everyday. Collected data were then analyzed to compare the differences
micro climate parameters between reclaimed are and non-reclaimed area. The
research was conducted from July 2013 until August 2013.
The result showed that Casuarinas Equisetifolia influence the micro
climate parameters in observed areas, such as reducing wind speed, increasing
tempeature, decreasing the humidity, and decreasing the value of evaporation. |
