Hubungan antara Perubahan Kadar Hormon Progesteron dan Jumlah Fibroblas Gingiva pada Kehamilan (Kajian pada Tikus Sprague dawley)

Description
Summary:Pregnancy causes alterations in oral cavity which are influenced by estrogen and progesteron hormones. Progesteron and estrogen influence soft tissue in oral cavity especially on local irritation caused by decreased ability of gingiva to deal with inflammation. The amount of gingival fibroblast cellular proliferation was also influenced by progesterone hormone. Aim of this research is to know the correlation between progesteron hormone level with the amount of gingival fibroblast in pregnancy period (studies in Sprague dawley). This research used 12 blood samples and gingiva speciments which were taken from Sprague dawley mice, consisted of 3 pregnant Sprague dawley mice at their 10th day of pregnancy, 3 pregnant Sprague dawley mice at their 14th day of pregnancy, 3 pregnant Sprague dawley mice at their 17thday of pregnancy and 3 unpregnant Sprague dawley mice. Blood samples were taken from orbita foraments of Sprague dawley mice to then be tested and analysed so progesterone hormone level can be measured using ELISA, while to count the amount of gingival fibroblasts in gingiva, tissue samples were taken from labial gingiva under two anterior teeth of mandibular with punch biopsy technique. Speciments then were made and be stained by hematoxylin eosin. The result was statistically analyzed by Pearson correlation test. Result of this research shows a significant correlation (p<0,05) with negative direction between the alteration of progesteron hormone level and the amount of gingiva fibroblast, with correlation coefficient -0,949. Conclusion of this research is the higher level of progesterone hormone in pregnancy, the lower amount of gingiva fibroblast cells (studies in Sprague dawley).
