Summary:Background: For elementary school students, knowing about dengue fever is important thing. This is because school age is the age of the vulnerable exposed to various diseases. This knowledge can be obtained by lecture, but health workers that can provide the health education only had a limited time. So the use of video to replace lecture can be used because the video can overcome the limitation of that time. Objective: To know the effect of giving lecture and video toward the knowledge level of elementary school students about dengue fever at elementary school Deresan, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Method: The quasi experimental research with pretest and posttest design was done towards 40 students of fifth grade. It consists of 20 students as lecture group and 20 students as video group. Result: The value dengue fever knowledge average level of video group from pretest to posttest increases with p=0.001 (p <0.05) so it is said that there is a significant difference. The value dengue fever knowledge average level of lecture group from pretest to posttest increases with p=0.001 (p <0.05) so it is said that there is also a significant difference. Conclusion: There is no difference in effect giving video and lecture for increase the knowledge of fifth grade students of elementary school about dengue fever at elementary school Deresan, Sleman, Yogyakarta.
