SECARA HIDROPONIK , REDHA FAUZI , Eka Tarwaca Susila Putra, S.P., M.P., Ph.D. ETD The research has been carried out in order to 1) determine the optimal levels of oxygen to accelerate the growth and yield of lettuce and 2) determine the effects of oxygen enrichment in the root zone on the N, P, K, Ca, Mg and Fe uptake by lettuce grown in hydroponics. The research was arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) single factor with three blocks as replications. The treatments tested were giving aeration using aerators in the growing medium, namely 0.012 mPa, 0.006 mPa, 0.003 mPa, and 0.00 mPa. Observations were done on several variables of environmental, growth, yield and quality of lettuce. Data were analyzed using analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at 5% levels, and continued with Dunnet Test. The optimal oxygen concentrations were determined using regression analysis. Meanwhile, the relationships patterns among the variables were determined with regression analysis. The results showed that growth and yield of lettuce continue to increase in line with the increase on aeration pressure and oxygen concentration in growing media up to 0,012 mPa and 12.23 mg/l. Lettuce have an ability to accumulate N, P, K, Ca, Mg, and Fe in the leaf tissue and continued to increase in line with the increase of aeration pressure and dissolved oxygen concentration in growing media, to an aeration pressure of 0,012 mPa and dissolved oxygen concentration of 12.23 mg/l. The applications of aeration pressure up to 0.012 mPa and dissolved oxygen concentration up to 12.23 mg/l has the potential to shorten the harvest time of lettuce, from 28 to 14 days after transplanting.
