Description
Summary:Spinach is one type of vegetable that popular in community due to the nutrients and easily cultivated. In some areas of Gunung Kidul, in the dry season, a lot of land not utilized because of the drought. Irrigation program has been done, but there are still limited, so the volume needs water for crop cultivation, especially spinach, need to be taken into account. This study aimed to determine the effect of the volume of irrigation water nutrient content of spinach quotes. This study uses a completely randomized design with five treatments that watering is done once in 4 days with volume 20 % (0.25 L), 40 % (0.5 L), 60 % (0.75 L), 80 % (1 L) and 100 % (1.25 L) of field capacity. Each treatment was repeated 5 times. Spinach seeds have been sown in 3 weeks, and planted in polybags containing a mixture of ground limestone and dung as fertilizer with a ratio of 1:1 weight 7.5 kg. Plants were allowed to grow until the age of 45 days (of the harvest). After harvesting, samples of leaves and stalks of spinach tested mineral content of calcium (Ca) and iron (Fe) were prepared by the desdructive acid and measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometry method. In addition, the spinach was also measured oxalic acid content, as antinutrient substances measured by titration. The data were then statistically tested by ANOVA and DMRT to show significant difference between samples. From this get a result base on statistic (p<0.05) respectively. The results shown for calcium content (mg/100 g) with volume of 100 % and 20 % is 444.18 and 209.73. For iron content (mg/100 g) with volume 20 % and 100 % is 4.59 and 1.59. For oxalic acid content with volume 20 % and 100 % is 0.77% and 0.38%. For water content is with volume 100 % and 20 % is 85, 84% and 83.74%. Thus, irrigation by 60 % volume of water provide a more efficient, especially for ground limestone in dry areas.
