Summary:Background : Chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) is a persistent disease and has two clinical type, non cholesteatoma and cholesteatoma. The clinical manifestation of two type is otorrhea, hearing loss, and tympanic membrane perforation, and can also accompanied by tinnitus, the fullness sensation in ear, ear pain, headache that can influence quality of life. Quality of life measurement is useful to understand the real impact of CSOM on patients. Objective : This study aimed to determine the average score of Chronic Otitis Media Outcome Test - 15 (COMOT-15) on CSOM patients before and after mastoidectomy surgery. Design of study : before and after. Method : Before and after. Forty one samples that were taken in sequentially (consecutive sample), 19 males, 22 females, the samples age were between 18-65 years who filled out COMOT-15 questionnaires before and 2 months after mastoidectomy surgery. Statistical analysis : Paired t test and Wilcoxon test Result : COMOT-15 assessment scoring for pretheraphy ear simptom (ES) was 56.0766±20.84 and after 2 month 28.1122±20.55 p<0,001, pretheraphy Hearing Function (HF) was 52.9883±30.32 and after 2 month 37.8746±32.06 p<0,001, pretheraphy Mental Health (MH) was 52.0732±27.06 and after 2 month 35.2439±31.56 p<0,001, pretheraphy overall score (OS) was 53.1707±20.80 and after 2 month 32.5512±23.44 p<0,001. Conclusion : CSOM patients quality of life after mastoidectomy is better than before mastoidectomy
