Luthfan Budi Purnomo, SpPD-KEMD ETD Metabolic syndrome is a combination of central obesity, elevated blood pressure, impaired glucose metabolism , and dyslipidemia. Prevalence is increasing worldwide. Several previous studies indicate that there is a difference controversy lung function and metabolic syndrome without metabolic syndrome . This study aims to determine whether the patient has the metabolic syndrome FEV1 percent predicted and FVC percent predicted lower than the normal population. The study design is a cross-sectional study. Subjects were patients with metabolic syndrome and without metabolic syndrome who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. There were 98 samples of the study with a mean age of 42.74 ± 9.14. Metabolic syndrome 48 people, and 48 healthy people as controls . On FVC percent predicted in the metabolic syndrome and without metabolic syndrome 99.27 ± 20.35 vs. 116.22 ± 20.67 ( p < 0.001 ), and FEV 1 was 116.05 ± 23.77 vs 130.06 ± 20.78 (p = 0.03). Patients with metabolic syndrome, 16.7% had a FEV1 < 80 % predicted that showed no decline in lung function type of obstruction , and 22.67 % of patients with metabolic syndrome have a FVC < 80 % predicted, indicating a decline in lung function of type of restriction.
