Studi Pemisahan Aliran Dua Fase Liquid-Liquid dengan menggunakan T-junction

In the two-phase flow especially liquid-liquid flow, the maldistribution of phase during the separation process in a T-junction has been studied by several authors. The negative consequences of this maldistribution at downstream equipment during operation are unavoidable, but T-junction also given p...

The negative consequences of this maldistribution at downstream equipment during operation are unavoidable, but T-junction also given positive consequences. It could be used as a partial phase separator. This has been a concern for industries and researchers to exploit this simple device which will be used as the latest technology in exploration to ensure oil stock. This research observed the phenomenon of liquid-liquid two phase flow separation and performance of phase separation on various T-junction geometry were used diameter ratio (rD), branch inclination (θ) and fillet radius (r). The data experiment measured under varied watercut 58% - 70%, water superficial velocity Jw = 0.20 m/s 0.39 m/s and kerosene superficial velocity Jk = 0.14 m/s 0.26 m/s with three variation downstream resistance. The results showed that the best performance of phase separation were achieved by three layer-3 flow pattern (3L-3) with kerosene take-off of 100%, small water take-off (les than 6%), and quick closing valve positioned at 75% closed. Based on branch inclination (θ), the best separation is achieved at θ = 90o for diameter ratio (rD) = 0.5 and 0.7, θ = 30o for rD = 1. Fillet radius (r) of 15 mm gives the best separation for rD = 0.5 and rD = 0.7, whereas r = 5mm is suitable for rD = 1. In addition, the best separation for branch inclination of 90o is found at rD = 0.5, whereas for inclination of 30o and 60o the best diameter ratio is 1.
