The object of this paper is Japanese compound sentence�s conjunction -o towazu, -ni kakawarazu, -mo kamawazu, and -o monotomosezu (ni). This study describes the use of -o towazu, -ni kakawarazu, -mo kamawazu, and -o monotomosezu (ni) and it�s substitution conditions based on semantic and syntax theory. This study is done so it can help to understand the use of -o towazu, -ni kakawarazu, -mo kamawazu, and -o monotomosezu (ni). The data for this study are utterances containing -o towazu, -ni kakawarazu, -mo kamawazu, and -o monotomosezu (ni). Data sources are taken from grammar dictionary, Japanese text book, and news articles in website Asahi Shinbun (asahi.com) and Shikoku Shinbun (shikoku-np.co.jp). All data then syntactically and semantically analyzed based on subject, verb, and word that follows each conjunctions. The result of this study shows nine form of substitution of each conjunction. The study also shows that -o towazu and -o monotomosezu can not substitute each other because -o monotomosezu only comes after an extreme condition.
