Endang Saraswati, M.Si. ETD accident Palembang city never be separated from the problem of traffic accidents. three factors include, human, vehicle, road and environment. The purpose of this study was: (1) Determine the extent to which the benefits of remote sensing and geographic information systems to mapping the vulnerability levels and accident locations in the central city of Palembang, (2) Determine vulnerability levels and accident locations distribution in the central city of Palembang by black site and black spot map, (3) Determine factors vulnerability levels and accident locations in central city of Palembang through map analysis. Scoring model with weighting factor and statistical methods simple moving average is used to mapping the vulnerability levels and accident locations. Samples taken by purposive random sampling. Analysis of accidents factors using comparative analysis or overlay of parameter maps, include parameters road, vehicle and environment . Quickbird image used as data source acquisition for road and environment. Distribution result mapping of vulnerability levels includes three classes, rather vulnerable, vulnerable and very vulnerable. Vulnerability levels of road factor can be seen from the road geometric, such as V/C ratio level, two-way road without median strip, environmental factors such as high activity in the left and right side of the road. Accident locations often found in streets that form a junction or a straight two-way street with no median strip.
