Description
Summary:Kalibendo plantation is a production area that is able to act as a supplier of clean water service for the environment. The only spring used by people around the plantation is Patemon spring. This research had objective to find out the water potential in the plantation to fulfill household water needs for the surrounding community. This research conducted in Kalibendo plantation, Banyuwangi, East Java. Measurement of the spring flow rate was conducted using volumetric method based on three main pipes that supplies water for three hamlets (Kopencungking, Bulupayung, Ampel Gading). Measurement with velocity area method taken on the leak springs which flows into river and used by the plantation and Kalibendo Hamlet. Measurement of the household water needs conducted using the questionnaires and direct measurement to the sample houses. Initial result of the research show that the water flow rate from the three pipe was 38,88 liter/second, while the water flow rate on a leak spring was 165,27 liters/second, so that the total water flow rate from Patemon spring was 204,15 liters/second. Based on the questionnaires calculations, it is known that household water supply based on the populations of 4 hamlets using Patemon Spring was 275,44 liters/day/capita with total population of 2002 people. Distribution of the population who use Patemon spring are spreaded unevenly, depends on the conditon of the area. Kalibendo is the only hamlet that utilizes the water by using tap water, so as to know the household water needs is 116,92 liters/day/capita and relatively normal. Balance between water needs and water availability is 8,93% and still far from a critical point. It is predicted that in 2025 (villages scale), household water needs will be equivalent to 46,49 liters/second, so the balance between water needs and water availability in the end of 2025 is 65,1%, this value is approaching to critical point.
