ETD Venomous snake bite affects the health condition which is experienced in tropical countries including Indonesia. In 2007, the data of venomous snake bite in Indonesia reached 12.739 cases, in which 20 of those, the victims were died. Velvet bean (Mucuna pruriens) has been traditionally used by the people in Nigeria. They used it to reduce the effects of venomous snake bite including cobra (Naja sputatrix) which is also commonly happened in Indonesia. This research is aimed to examine the immune response of Wistar rats which have been pre treatment by velvet bean extract against cobra�s venom injection. Preliminary test was conducted to determine the sublethal dose of venom, and venom dose was obtained by 500x dilution.
