Summary: | This research aims to compare the mean of ophtalmic artery blood flow velocity among
normal tension glaucoma (NTG) subjects to the normal subjects. The hypothesis proposed was the
mean of ophtalmic artery blood flow velocity among NTG subjects is slower than the normal
subjects.
This research was conducted using a cross-sectional study design. Forty subjects fullfilled
the criterias were exactly divided into NTG group and control group, then undergoexamination to
measure ophtalmic artery blood flow velocity using TCD 2 MHz equipment. Under seating
position with head fixation and talk avoiding during examination, some lubricant gel were apply to
the transducer than attached to the skin surfaces of both upper eyelids to record ocular blood flow.
Examination were took 20-30 minutes on 40-70 mm skin depth. Measurement results were
includes mean of ophtalmic artery blood flow velocity (TCD mean) and ophtalmic artery blood
flow velocity during systole (TCD peak), mentioned as centimeter/second (cm/sec). The results are
numeric variables and analyzed using independent t test.
The results shows that mean of ophtalmic artery blood flow velocity on NTG group are
TCD OD peak 45.25 ± 18.479 cm/sec |
