This material has high permeability and lines of magnetic force that easily floweds, so that it is very easy to become permanent magnets. One of the way to make a magnetic materials becoming permanent magnet is with to drain electrical current that is called electromagnet. In this research it is used high current or impulse current, by giving impulse current at a certain time to reach maximum value or peak of the permanent magnet material it will affect the magnetic field strength produced. This time is called the front time. The aim of this research was to know the effect of front time variations of impulse current on permanent magnetic materials by comparing the ferromagnetic elements that contained within the material and magnetic field strength produced. Permanent magnetic materials that was used in this research was taken the form of metal that has been formed, such as L key, concrete nails, plus screwdrivers , wrenches and bolt. Before being carried out in the testing, this material was analyzed in Analytical Chemistry Laboratory of FMIPA UGM and LPPT UGM. This material simultaneously was put into the paralon and Ferrum hollow pipes that has been entwined with NYA 1.5 mm2 cable, so this material became the core of the coil along with the paralon and Ferrum hollow pipes. The coil was installed in an impulse current generator circuit and which had peak current of 1.2 kA, 1.5 kA and 2.1 kA with front time value ranging from 800 s to 990 s. Impulse current generator that was used was impulse current generator located in the High Voltage Laboratory of UGM. The results of the research showed that the front time variation of the impulse current affects the magnetic field strength. The greater the value of fronts time the greater the magnetic field strength that was generated. The highest magnetic field strength was obtained by the L key that is equal to 2.1 mT (20 Gauss). In addition, a key L also has element of Fe (one of the ferromagnetic elements) more than other materials. From this research, it was produced a permanent magnet with a magnetic field strength ranging from 0.1 mT to 2.1 mT. This was resulted from observations of the magnetic field strength of test material for 30 day [Yogyakarta] : Universitas Gadjah Mada 2014 Thesis NonPeerReviewed , CITRA DEWI and , Prof. Dr. Ir. T.
