Neneng Ratnasari, SpPD-KGEH ETD The incidence of Helicobacter pylori infection in Indonesia is very high, but the degree of severity of gastritis and the risk of developing gastric cancer is extremely low. Interleukin-10 (IL-10) is an anti-inflammatory cytokine that is considered to play a strong role in determining the grade of severity of gastric mucosal inflammation due to H. pylori infection. This study aimed to determine the comparison of IL-10 expression based on the grade of histopathological inflammation of gastric mucosa in patients with H. pylori-infected chronic gastritis. This study was a retrospective study, the design of study was cross sectional. The study was conducted by examining the histopathological biopsy specimens of 42 chronic gastritis patients (aged 18-80 years) who had undergone endoscopy at Dr. Sardjito Hospital. Samples were excluded if based on patients medical record data, the patient was known to have a history of gastroesophageal reflux disease, malignancy, autoimmune disease, renal failure and chronic liver disease. A higher mean/median of IL-10 expression tended to be found in: the group with mild grade of gastric mucosal inflammation compared to the moderate-to-severe group (46,38 ± 10,30% vs 36,83 ± 17,58) [Yogyakarta] : Universitas Gadjah Mada 2014 Thesis NonPeerReviewed , Febie Chriestya and , dr.
