Neneng Ratnasari, SpPD-KGEH. ETD Background: In primary care setting, GERD can be diagnosed based on the presenting symptoms alone. Currently, endoscopy is the first choice of diagnosis technique in the investigation of GERD in clinical practice and research. The classical symptoms of GERD are usually heartburn, feeling that food stuck behind the breastbone (sternum), nausea, and so on. The symptoms are frequently reported to occur during night time where it is associated with more severe injury of the mucosa. Therefore, we are using GERD Questionnaire in this research to find the difference between GERDQ score in GERD patients with and without gastroduodenal lesions specifically. Aim: We aim to evaluate the difference of GERDQ score in GERD patients with and without gastroduodenal lesions. Method: A cross sectional study with consecutive sampling of 22 patients from endoscopy room with an early clinical diagnosis of GERD in Dr. Sardjito General Hospital was selected for this research. The subjects were male (n=14) and female (n=8) GERD patients with several inclusion and exclusion criteria who were assessed for any presence of gastroduodenal lesions by using endoscopy. The subjects were asked to fill in GERD Questionnaire to assess for symptoms score which was analyzed using independent samples t-test. Results: In this study, the mean difference of GERDQ score in GERD patients with and without gastroduodenal lesions was 0.80342. The comparison showed that there was no significant result (p=0.595 with 95%CI) (p>0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results we can conclude that there is no difference of GERDQ score in GERD patients with and without gastroduodenal lesions. Key Words: GERD, GERDQ, gastroduodenal lesions, endoscopy, heartburn. [Yogyakarta] : Universitas Gadjah Mada 2014 Thesis NonPeerReviewed , NOOR HAFIZAH ZAIHANAH MOHD NUR and , dr.
