Ir. Agus Maryono ETD Under the laws of the Republic of Indonesia No. 20 in 2012 on the establishment of the North Kalimantan Province so Bulungan Region is in the province of North Kalimantan. Bulungan region consists of 10 subdistricts, 81 villages with the number of people in the village is 115,426 (2012) and has a ratio of the electrification 78.14%. The number of residents who have not had electicity is 5,969 House Hold (HH). The large number of it is a population residing in rural areas that spread out all over the subdistrict. Topography in Bulungan region with the area of 13,181.92 km2 has a few islands, attached to dozens of large and small rivers, and has a rugged, mountainous terrain with steep cliffs and sharp slope. The condition is estimated to have a potential micro hydro which can be raised as an alternative problem solving needs electricity.This research aims to examine the potential energi of the water in the Bulungan Region especially in Long Pari Village. Long pari Village has a Long water potential about 282 litres/second with head of 3 metres. Based on the calculation of the potential water so Long Pari Village can be planned a system of picohidro power plant (PLTPh). The main objective of this research is providing electricity and clean water to Long Pari village. Data of Mining and Energi Departement Bulungan region, potential energi of water that can be developed for PLTMh in Bulungan region is 8 points that can generate a total electricity energi of 1,091.6 kW. Based on the data of PT PLN (Persero) Kaltim Area Berau Rayon tanjung selor of averaged power (kWH) sold during the last 5 years is 40,575,879 kWH per year. If the potential PLTMh is 1,091.6 kW can be built so 0.2356% of power (kW) that can help to meet the needs of electricity energi in the Bulungan Region. The cost of designing PLTPh Long Pari is big enough : Rp 910,900,000,-(nine hundred ten million nine hundred thousand rupiah) for H (head) = 3 m, Q (debit) = 0.190 m3/s with Open Flume turbine Propeller 200 mm. Comparison of Benefit Values with cost (B/C) = 0.1536, then investment development plan of PLTPh Long Pari is not economical, this is because the condition of place is far from urban areas lead to the rises of price of good and transport equipment for the electrical and mechanical, civil work and distribution network. Plan of the electric power generated by the PLTPh Long Pari is 3,000 Watts that can meet the needs of rural electricity about 80 head of household (HH) with the given power per head of household (HH) is 37.5 Watt that planned 2 point light per home.
