Description
Summary:Background, The number of filariasis case happens in Indonesia increase with each year. This disease is an illness that can cause permanent disability and also the victims shunned from society. Until this time there is still no effective, so the act of precaution is made a priority. There are many kinds synthetic insecticides that have toxic effect so that the use of larvicide from natural substance that is safe can be an alternative on precaution from Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitos bites in which being the dominant vector of filariasis. The use of mangosteen skin that has no use anymore can be developed in larvicide research that derived from natural substance. Objective, To know the effect of chloroforms extract from mangosteens skin as larvicide to Culex quinquefasciatuss larva. To know the concentration of chloroforms extract from mangosteens (Garcinia mangostana) skin that is needed to reach mortality level of Culex quinquefasciatuss larva at LC50 and LC90. To know the relationship between the concentration of chloroforms extract from mangosteens skin and mortality level of Culex quinquefasciatuss larva. Method, This research is a simple experimental research using WHO 2005 as the guide. The start research is done to set the interval of 6 concentration (3000 ppm, 6000 ppm, 10.000 ppm, 13.000 ppm, 17.000 ppm, 21.000 ppm) treatments that is replied 3 times on the last test using 10 larvas in each of 100 ml concentrations. The final result is analyzed with probit and ANOVA. Conclusion, Chloroforms extract from mangosteens skin has the effect of larvicide to mosquito Culex quinquefasciatuss larva. The number of LC50 and LC90 each is 7439,828 ppm and 17984,09 ppm. The increase of chloroforms extract from mangosteens skin can raise mortality level of Culex quinquefasciatuss larva.
