Summary: | Vocal music is a kind of music that comes from the human
voice, and it could be sang by a singer or a group of people. This
joint sounds when sung with a variety of color harmony and the
sound (timbre) like soprano, alto, tenor and bass sounds, is called
choral music or choir. On its development, the activities of the
choir are not only done in the church, but it can be done
anywhere, by anyone, and the time is not bound.
The number of choral activities is now increasingly prevalent
in Indonesia, both in terms of geography and age, so that the writer
of this thesis is interested in this particular study of Jember
University Student Choir (PSM-UNEJ). This subject is very
interesting, because the student choir is very needed by the
university as a part of Protocol, one of the means complement of
yudisium ceremony and the graduation as it relates to the
dynamics of the potential campus academic community, both
students, lecturers, and employees. As well as the student choir as
a green promotion tools in the the midle of public, local, regional,
national and international livelihood. In addition, another potential
thing is concerned with the performance of the choir itself, which is
collective and multilayers.
The issue in this thesis is presented through a
multidisciplinary approach to explore specifically on
conceptualization about music, behavior related to music, and the
sound of the music itself. It is about the dynamic nature of the
system, of all the musicality in terms of function, form, motive,
meaning lyric song, and vocal technique. To get a more
comprehensive picture, then the method of data collection is done
by tracing the history and ethnography.
This study may give an idea, that it it is viewed from the form
of its performance, choir can serve as a means or as an aesthetic
presentation ceremony. The results could be used as a treasury
paper to provide extensive information in order to conserve the arts
in Jember. As the subject of one of the vocal arts genre of music in
documenting the research, transcribe into musical notation, and
also as an attempt to maintain its existence. |
