PERTUMBUHAN PRASAPIH PEDET PERANAKAN ONGOLE DAN SIMMENTAL-PERANAKAN ONGOLE DI VILLAGE BREEDING CENTER, KABUPATEN SLEMAN

This research was conducted to observe the preweaning growth of Ongole Grade (OG) calves and Simmental-Ongole Crossbred (SOC) calves at Village Breeding Center (VBC) in Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region. Six heads of OG calves and 11 heads of SOC calves were used in this research. The calves were kept with their cow prior to weaning (three months of age). Data were analyzed using One-way anova. The second month daily weight-gain of OG and SOC calves were 0,45±0,37 and 0,87±0,35 kg/head/day, respectively. The second month daily weight-gain of SOC calves was higher (P<0,05) than that of OG calves. The weaning weight of OG and SOC calves were 69,04±11,08 dan 96,65±9,93 kg, respectively. The weaning weight of SOC calves was higher (P<0,001) than that of OG calves. Hearth girth, body lenght, whiteres height, hip height, and chest depth at three months old of OG and SOC calves were 103,53±11,44 and 106,13±6,04 cm, 71,80±7,36 and 75,68±8,71 cm, 97,91±7,53 and 94,40±5,91 cm, 103,40±6,13 and 100,38±6,27 cm, also 37,73±4,11 and 40,65±2,66 cm, respectively. The body size of OG and SOC calves at three months old were not significantly different. It is concluded that the second month preweaning growth of SOC calves is better than that of OG calves, but their growth at third months old are similar.
