This research discusses about the development and characteristic of Yosakoi in Yogyakarta. Yosakoi is a folk dance from Kochi, Japan, and it is spread in a lot of area in Indonesia, especially in Yogyakarta. The objectives of the research are to determine the developing of Yosakoi, the factors that influence the development and charaterisric of Yosakoi in Yogyakarta. This research method that uses the primary and secondary resources. The primary resources are interview and observation while the secondary data are library search. The results of this research are the development of Yosakoi forms that occur in Yogyakarta is the development by two groups of Yosakoi in Yogyakarta namely D�JOH and Tsukiyomi. The developments of Yosakoi are influenced by internal factors like organizational, human resource and fund resource while the external factors are the source of auxiliary power and performance. Based on the developments those groups, the characteristic of Yosakoi can be look in the innovation and creativity that poured through costumes and dance moves. It is made Yosakoi in Yogyakarta different with the other Yosakoi in Japan.
