Description
Summary:Investment is one of the capitals in development. Investment is not only increasing the velocity of money but also absorbing labor by providing new jobs and increasing the chance of technology and skills transfer (Ho and Rashid , 2011, in Jadhav 2012). The purpose of this study is to identify the spatial distribution of investment in Bogor Regency as a region that becomes one of the investment destinations in Indonesia and to identify the factors that influence the spatial distribution. This research is a quantitative study and using secondary data. The spatial distribution of investment in this study was identified by using analysis of centrality index which calculated in every sub-district as an analysis unit then expressed in spatial distribution maps. This research uses multiple regression to identify factors that affect the spatial distribution, with the amount of investment in each unit of analysis as the dependent variable , and the presence of industrial area, cultivation area, labor force, the number of welfare family, and the amount of trading facility as an independent variable. The result shows that there are 546 units of investment in Bogor Regency, 72 % of them are foreign direct investment (FDI) and 78.21 % of the total investment is investment in the secondary sector or industry. Each sub-district in Bogor Regency has a different number of investments so that the centrality indexes are different too. The difference can be seen clearly in the distribution of investment map, where sub-districts with high centrality index classification located in the northeastern part of the region, they are Sub-District of Gunung Putri, Cileungsi, and Citeureup. Sub-districts with the middle classification of the centrality index are located around the Bogor City, while the remaining low classification distributed in the western and eastern part of the regency . Based on the results of multiple regression , the availability of the industrial area is the only variable that significantly affects the spatial distribution of investment in Bogor Regency. Investments particularly in the secondary sector which dominated the investment in these regency, tend to choose a location in the industrial area that has been provided by the regency government. Therefore, the spatial distribution of investment in Bogor Regency is appropriate because it is spatially concentrated in the industrial area .
