Description
Summary:The aim of this research was to know the biology reproduction of the nile tilapia inhabitat in Waduk Sermo, namely level of gonad maturity, gonad maturity index, fecundity and egg diameter, the first size maturity for catching reference. Research was carried out from April to Agustus 2013. Fishes were collected by a gill net twice a month. Fishes were collected, then individualy measured their length and weight, then disescted to collect the gonad. The third and four gonad maturity level were measured their egg diameter and then counted. Data descriptively such as the level of maturity of gonads, gonad maturity index, fecundity and the first length of the gonads maturity. The results showed that the total samples collected at sum 165 individual which consisted of 107 males (64.85%) and 58 females (35.15%). The total length was ranged from 6.0 to 14.9 cm and weigh from 5 to 59 g. The highest maturity level was accured in July. The gonad maturity index was ranged from 0.003 to 0.066% for maturity level III, and ranged from 0.023 to 0.047% for maturity level IV. The length of the first maturity of male nile tilapia was 10,9 cm, while the female nile tilapia is 10.2 cm. The size of eggs diameters of nile tilapia was ranged from 0.25 to 2.75 mm. Eggs were ovulated and expelled at the size of 0.97 mm. The fecundity was ranged from 77 to 825 eggs. There was no relationship between egg diameter and the length of fish. A regulations, especialy for restriction of minimum size to be captured, was rerquired through regulations on minimum size of gill nets mesh. The closed season for fish catching was required during June to July to allow the brood fish to spawn.
