Summary: | By its wealth in natural and cultural treasure, Indonesia has a great potential to attract international interest in tourism. Located in such geographical scenery, intersection between two continents and two oceans generate the coral triangle of marine resources in Indonesia. with the same geographical characteristic, some countries around caribbean sea have utilized their potential to the fullest. Although with the smaller area of marine resource, the countries of Central America have a lot profit by the tourism industry in distinctive number compared with Indonesia. As a developing country, it becomes an urge to start utilizing the potential to support nation's economy and progress toward a independent country.
Create an entrance to international tourism will give Indonesia a way to find its own national identity in this modern world. Wakatobi archipelago as national park contain the richest potential both in its marine ecology and marine anthropology. With its unique lifestyle and scenery, if the infrastructure to welcome the tourism industry is well developed, Wakatobi archipelago will stand side by side with another international tourism such as Mount Everest in Nepal. By its opportunity to join the market of cruise tourism, Wakatobi archipelago will gain global awareness and people around the world start to consider it as their dream vacation.
It becomes a great dilemma, as paving the pristine of archipelago will also give the threat to damage the national park. Marine ecology and marine anthropology of Wakatobi archipelago is in the serious stake that should be well considered when designing the opening of Wakatobi's international tourism entrance, as it was the great asset of the world that should be well-preserved. Proposing the idea to build the cruise port far from the coastline, the port is designed to minimize the damage to the coast's ecosystem and give the unique attraction by traditional cruise for transporting the tourist to the shoreline. While formulating the design that can maintain the purity of Wakatobi's marine ecosystem, the idea of port will give an opportunity for traditional cruise communities to take a great contribution in national tourism industry. Offshore cruise port is another concept to generate an original idea for Indonesia's development, creating an original independent tropical country apart from political control by another bigger countries. |
