Summary:The artisanal mining which held by the people in District Punung has been ongoing since the pre- independence era to the present. The geologic evaluation at the mine site focused based on the criteria of geological resources , the practice of mining , geological disasters , land use , and engineering geology aspect of each mine site . This evaluation aims to find viable mine site location based on assessment with AHP ( Anlytical Hierarchy Process ) method . Calculations on AHP method results weights factor for each criterion. Criteria geological resources have the greatest weight , while the engineering geology criteria has the smallest weight. There are 14 mines are still attempted until now, from the 14 locations there are 2 locations deemed most worthy viable mine according to reasearcher. That is the land-soil mine in the Village Gondosari and limestone quarry in the village of Punung. The most not feasible mine according to this reasearch is a gold mine in the village of Kebonsari . The practice of gold mining in the village Kebonsari very high risk for the safety of miners , with the epithermal gold deposit model of this location becomes inefficient if exploited on a scale of artisanal mining.
