This thesis clarifies the subject of the participation of the local people in Jungutbatu village to retain their environment. Their village, located in Bali, Indonesia, is a destination for ecotourism. As ecotourism, it needs the participation of locals to retain this development in their village, especially regarding their natural environment. This participation can be measured and observed seen from local values, culture, and behavior. The data in this thesis project was collected through the ethnography method, observation and participation (live in), in-depth interviews, and also through field research. Researcher lived in this village for about three months, and lived side by side with locals. Good response from locals made researcher able to get data easily.Beside those techniques, data was also collected through literature, photo documenting, recording, and internet research. The result of this research shows that there�s a different between their values about domestic and public space. In domestic place (homes of the locals) they keep it clean,but its different in public areas. There are many factors behind this result
