ISOLASI DAN IDENTIFIKASI Staphylococcus intermedius DAN Staphylococcus epidermidis PADA ANJING PENDERITA DERMATOFITOSIS DENGAN TERAPI KETOKONAZOLE

Dermatitis can be caused by bacteria such as S. intermedius and S. epidermidis, that can be occurrence together with dermatophytosis. Dermatophytosis is a skin disease caused by dermatophyte. Ketoconazole is one of antifungal that used in the treatment of dermatophytosis. This study aims to identify the bacteria S. intermedius and S. epidermidis in dog dermatophytosis patients before and during treated with ketoconazole cream. Twenty one skin lesion swab samples were taken from dogs before infection of Mycrosporum canis, during infection of M. canis and during ketoconazole cream therapy. Existance of S. intermedius and S. epidermidis identified by culture on Mannitol Salt Agar (MSA), Gram stain, catalase test, tube coagulase and Voges Proskauer test (VP). The observation result of clinical lesions in dogs with dermatophytosis were erythema, scales, crusting, circular alopecia and hyperpigmentation. Clinical lesion decreased after treatment of dermatophytosis. The results of bacterial identification in all three dogs before infection, during infection and during treatment were always found S. intermedius. Staphylococcus epidermidis found on 10th during infection, 7th, 14th and 21st day during treated with ketoconazole. Based on the results of these study it can concluded that S. intermedius always found on dog during infection M. Canis and during treatment, but not for S. epidermidis.
