Description
Summary:This study located in Banda Arc relatively South West from Timor and North West from Australia. This location is very interesting to be studied with heat flow mapping because with this method can do hydrocarbon prospecting (also needed research with different methods), high heatflow value related with hydrocarbon prospect. Tectonic setting for this area consist of trough, graben, platform, basin, and sub-basin with heatflow mapping that structural event can be differentiate. Heatflow is never measured directly but is obtained from the vertical component of the Fourier's Law, where the gradient in °C/km, thermal conductivity in W/mK and the heatflow Q in mW/m2. In this study the thermal conductivity calculation using three methods: Williams and Anderson, Houbolt and Wells and Demongodin (crossplot). 0,777 The results of the calculation of the thermal conductivity by several methods have a range of values for Williams and Anderson methods 2,882 W m -1 K -1 , Houbolt and Wells 0,670 2,896 W m -1 K -1 and, Demongodin (crossplot) 1,920 2,410 W m -1 K -1 . Value range from calculation of heat flow is not too much for the method of Williams and Anderson 2,402 9,192 mW/m 2 , Houbolt and Wells 1,976 9,883 mW/m 2 and, Demongodin (crossplot) 4,774 10,536 mW/m 2 . The pattern of heatflow after the map was made following the regional tectonic in Timor area. Areas surrounding the basin have a high heat flow value, while the height of the area or platform has low heatflow values. Areas of research in the distribution of heatflow map has a high value is an area that has potential for oil and gas exploration.
