Summary:Triiodothyronine (T3) was a hormone produced by the thyroid gland and served to increase the metabolic activity of almost all body tissues. The higher thyroid hormone secretion increased the basal metabolic rate by 60-100 % above normal . This study aims to determine the profile of triiodothyronine hormone levels in male and female rats wistar strain. In the present was study used 15 male rats and 15 female Wistar rats aged one month. Rats weighed once a week. Blood samples was taken via the orbital sinus once a month with mikrohematokrit and placed into a sterile tube and then centrifuged to make serum. ELISA test was used to determine levels of hormones triiodothyronine in blood serum. The results show the differences triiodothyronine levels of male rats and female rats. Triiodothyronine hormone levels in male rats reached peak in the third week while in female rats during the second week then declined slowly each month.
