Slamet Raharjo, MP. ETD Toxoplasmosis was a zoonotic disease caused by infection of protozoa Toxoplasma gondii. The disease affected human and animal. The incidence of toxoplasmosis in poultry, especially duck associated with contaminated feed or water with oocytes of Toxoplasma gondii. The aim of this research was to study the prevalence of toxoplasmosis and histopathological figure of the liver, lung and brain in Turi duck. As many as of 30 Turi ducks from Sidomulyo village Bambanglipuro subdistrict Bantul Yogyakarta used in this study. Blood samples were collectedas much as 2 ml from the brachial vein then transferred to eppendorf tube for collecting the serum. Serum was tested using Pastorex®Toxo. The histopathological examination of organ were done from liver, lung and brain of toxoplasmosis seropositive ducks. Based on the Pastorex®Toxo test results obtained the prevalence of toxoplasmosis in Turi ducks was 53.33%. The histopathological figure of the liver, lung and brain tissue did not reveal any cysts or bradizoit. A negative result of cystsin histological tissue mean that the formation of cysts was uncomplete or the ducks infected with type I of Toxoplasma gondii which not form any cysts. The high prevalence of toxoplasmosis in ducks indicated that there was environment contamination of toxoplasma oocysts and ducks potentially transfer the toxoplasma to humans and other animals.
