Description
Summary:This research consisted of 4 stages and was aimed to increase the utility of eggshell waste as calcium and phosphorus sources of laying hens feed. The objectives of the experiment I were to increase the content of phosphorus, to kill bacteria and to loosen the microstructure of eggshell waste . The objectives of experiment II were to determine the effect of concentrations of H 3PO4 and particle size of eggshell on in vitro solubility. The objectives of experiment III were to find the best concentration of H3PO4 and particle size of eggshell for laying hens. The objective of experiment IV was to obtain the optimal proportion of the use of eggshell powder as limestone substitution in the feed of laying hens. In the experiment I method eggshell was soaked in 80°C water and then divided into 4 parts there were without soaked in H 3 PO4, soaked in H3PO4 3, 4, and 5%. The eggshell was made into 2 particle size of 1 mm and 3 mm and then evaluated an in vitro solubility (experiment II). Eggshell in experiment II was applied in hens feed (experiment III). The best result of experiment III was used for limestone substitution in feed of laying hen, those were 0, 2.5, 5, and 7.5% (experiment IV). Completely Randomized Design with factorial pattern of 4 x 2 was used in experiment II and III, One Way Completely Randomized Design was used in experiment IV. The results of the experiment I showed that H 3PO4 5% produced the lowest bacteria, highest phosphorus content and loosen microstructure. The result of experiment II showed that the concentration of H3PO4, particle size and their interactions were significantly effect (P<0.05) on in vitro solubility. On the particle size of 1 mm, the use of H3PO4 3 and 4% increase in vitro solubility, while the particle size of 3 mm the use of H3PO4 3% increases in vitro solubility and then decreases to H3PO4 5%. The result of experiment III showed that concentrations of H 3PO4 and particle size had significantly effect on eggshell thickness and calcium content of excreta (P<0.05) but had no significantly effect on feed intake, calcium and phosphorus intake, egg production, egg weight, feed conversion, weight and percentage of eggshell, bone quality, calcium and phosphorus of blood and phosphorus content of excreta. Eggshell thickness on the use H3PO4 5% and particle size of 3 mm was significantly highest (P<0.05). The result of experiment IV showed that the use of 7.5% of eggshell powder as limestone substitution increased production performance, eggshell qua lity, fertility and hatchability with exception of calcium content of eggshell. In conclusion the use of eggshell soaked in H3PO4 5% with particle size of 3 mm could used for 7.5% limestone substitution in the feed of laying hens.
