Description
Summary:Climatic and geographical conditions of Indonesia is also quite affecting livestock management especially in terms of reproductive performance. Research on reproductive performance of cattle had applied widely in Sleman and Bantul, Yogyakarta, but based on previous reports of research on the influence of climate and environment has not been much done. The research was conducted with the productive beef cattles aged 2-9 years as many as 32 head of beef cattles in Handini Mukti group Seyegan, Sleman and Gumarang Jaya group, Trirenggo, Bantul were divided into two groups : group Sleman and Bantul then conducted interviews, observations the beef cattles in the cage and asked questions through a questionnaire. Results revealed that group of Sleman and group of Bantul has a wet tropical climate with relatively ambient temperature about 24 35o C, 80% of humidity, 350 mm rainfall and beef cattles condition exposed to direct sunlight. The results showed that the reproductive performance in group of Seyegan, Sleman value of S/C 2.33 ± 0.82 , CI 15.26 ± 4.07 months and EPP 73.42 ± 39.02 days, whereas in group of Trirenggo, Bantul value of S/C 2.31 ± 0.75 , CI 14.0 ± 2.24 months and EPP 64.55 ± 32.90 days. The third comparison showed no significant differences ( P > 0.05 ). The conclusion of this research is that the beef cattles in the Handini Mukti group at Seyegan, Sleman and Gumarang Jaya group at Trirenggo, Bantul did not show significant differences in terms of reproductive performance, due to differences in temperature and humidity environment that is not too extreme is also not dominant and beef cattles has enough to adapt to the climate and environment.
