Djoko Sulistyo ETD Banyumanik I bridge pier was made of double-I reinforced concrete with 24.5 m height and the form of superstructure was prestressed concrete box girder with total span of bridge was 170.167 m length. The use of slender pier can cause local buckling. Therefore, it is necesarry to know the structure behavior in accommodating the working load include stiffness, slenderness, strength and crack patterns of the pier. Linear numerical analysis of the bridge pier was performed by MIDAS Civil and nonlinear analysis was performed by Athena, both on service load. Then it also performed numerical analysis modeling of reinforced concrete pier using box cross section as an alternative, with the same of cross-sectional area. So that the comparison of the two types of the reinforced concrete pier structure behavior can be acquired. The nonlinier numerical analysis result have acquired that displacement of double-I pier was �0.589 m for X axis and -0.051 toward Y axis, and the box pier displacement was -0.038 m for X axis and toward -0.038 for Y axis. Based on graphs of diagram P-M interaction, both of them was able to hold the service load on the bridge and safe for accumulate the shear force on both X axis and Y axis. Moment inertia of double-I pier was Ixx = 102.74 m4 and Iyy = 66.53 m4 higher than box pier Ixx = 58.2 m4 dan Iyy = 69.5 m4. Both of double-I and box pier were not included in slender pier. Double-I pier has much greater damage of crack patern than the box one, it is because box pier was connected in four sides so all of load could be transferred well. Box pier reinforcement has volume 1740 tons of reinforcing bars a much larger 12.37% compared to double-I pier that only have 1544 tons. It can be concluded that box pier be able to be an alternative pier input and reference selection of reinforced concrete bridge pier in the future with fullfill quality standard and efficient.
