Jepara.

wood sculpture is the city's identity also become the main Jepara revenue (27.7% of total gross
domestic product Jepara). Known as Wood Carving Centre, Jepara wood carving is not only wellknown

These days people said Jepara carving is decline. Based on the survey interviews, setback was
appeared of different fields. In the economic and tourism sector, tourists had little question why many
galleries along the highway is now empty. The setback also occurred in the education sector due to a
decline enthusiasts who want to learn the art of carving. Many people are increasingly fading interest
in sculpture because the proffesion as wood carver cant be the main source of income.
Currently, both the government and the community do the carving preservation movement
together. Government and community choose Museum as one of the best preservation way because it
system utilizes a variety of educational institutions, both formal and non-formal, school and outside of
school. Designing a Museum feels more relevant than if the Government should set up a whole studio
carving at each school and school do not need to hire a tenured professional engraver.
Establishment of Jepara Wood Craft Museum would also be fortitude as a city icon Jepara
carving. Jepara icon preservation is a challenge for Local Government and all elements of society.
