Summary:The lack of data on blood cholesterol levels in dogs and not much reporting of events has not been a lot of cases of illness due blood cholesterol levels in dogs, particularly in the area of Sleman, Yogyakarta, so this research aimed to evaluate blood cholesterol levels in dogs older than five years at a time before and after meals. The study was conducted using 20 dogs in healthy clinical conditions. Blood samples were taken before eating dogs and two hours after meals in aseptic of venous cephalika. Blood samples were obtained cholesterol dropped into strips that have been incorporated into Easy Touch ® GCU meters and after 120 seconds cholesterol levels read on screen. Data were analyzed statistically by ttest. The results showed that the average levels of cholesterol in dogs before and after meals was 121.2 ± 16.90 mg/dl and 125.75 ± 21.89 mg/dl. Based on these results it can be concluded that : (1) cholesterol levels in the blood of pet dogs in Sleman, Yogyakarta was in the normal range (2) There is no significant difference (p > 0.05 ) between blood cholesterol levels and a dog at a time before after meals.
