EVALUASI KADAR KALSIUM DAN FOSFOR DARAH PADA SAPI POTONG BUNTING DI WILAYAH NGLIPAR GUNUNGKIDUL

Beef cows was one of the food-producing resource, such as meat, that has a high economic value. Deficiency or excess of one mineral will interfere body metabolism that is manifested in decline of cows production and reproduction. This research was aimed to evaluate the calcium and phosphorus blood s...

Hary Purnamaningsih, MP ETD Beef cows was one of the food-producing resource, such as meat, that has a high economic value. Deficiency or excess of one mineral will interfere body metabolism that is manifested in decline of cows production and reproduction. This research was aimed to evaluate the calcium and phosphorus blood status of the pregnant cow in Nglipar Gunungkidul. This research was conducted using 6 non pregnant cows and 6 pregnant cows. Blood samples were taken by 5 ml from jugular vein. Blood samples were obtained and centrifuged for 10 minutes, 8000 rpm. Serum obtained was stored at -20°C temperature until mineral was analyzed. Analysis of serum calcium and phosphorus was done in commercial laboratory using Cobas c-501 ® data was analyzed statistically by T-test. The result showed that the average of non pregnant cows calcium levels (9,03 ± 1,54 mg/dl) and pregnant cows (10,01 ± 0,31 mg/dl) were not significantly different (P>0,05). The average levels of phosphorus in non pregnant cows (5,01 ± 1,83 mg/dl) and pregnant cows (4,15 ± 0,61 mg/dl). Calculations showed statistically significant differences (P<0,05) for phosphorus levels in cows pregnant and non pregnant cows with Ca: P ratios in non pregnant cows 2,3: 1 and pregnant cows 2,7 : 1. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that non pregnant cows and pregnant cows calcium levels were normal. Phosphorus levels in the blood of non pregnant cows was normal, but the pregnant cow was below normal. Macromineral status in pregnant cows leads to hypophosphatemia.
