Summary:Particle Image Velocimetry is one of several methods to visualize and perform measurement on a fluid flow. PIV uses an optical laser measurement technique works non-intrusively, which does not disturb the flow to be investigated. In its application, PIV requires tracer particles added to the flow as a medium for the measurement analysis of this method. Generally, for liquid flow, used solid tracer particles suspended in the flow and mixed to obtain a homogeneous flow. However, the problem is caused by solid waste tracer particles which are not used anymore. In addition, the use of solid tracer particles is expensive. The use of microbubble as a tracer particles instead of solid tracer particles can reduce the cost and avoid enviromental waste due to the addition of solid waste tracer particles, thus seen as a good alternative. The size of microbubble that can be set in such a way confirms its reliability as an alternative of tracer particles. Microbubble generation using microbubble generator orifice and porous pipe type, where the experiment was conducted experimental configuration of the number of microbubble generator and configuration of orifice diameter. Microbubble injected into the test section after first accomodated in a chamber which is placed at a certain height. Traceability of microbubble as a good tracer can be seen by calculating the relaxation time and Stokes Number. Microbubble distribution will be analyzed whether the distribution has been spread evenly and produce a homogeneous flow or not.
