| Summary: | Subdistrict head (camat) has a main task to implement government authority which delegated by the Regent. The task includes handling regional autonomy affairs and executing government common task. In conjunction with these duties, subdistrict head demanded to act as a leader and assists performance process in the village. In reality these days, people do not understand the function of subdistrict head.
This study aims to describe and explain the function of subdistrict head�s leadership in society by delving deeper into the perception of subdistrict head, people, as well as parties that are directly related to subdistrict. By comparing the reality that occurs and the function that should be done by a subdistrict head, we may find out the reason of subdistrict head performance less seen.
The result showed that the subdistrict head already carried out his duties well in services and providing facilities. However, subdistrict head has less role in monitoring and public relations such founding and empowerment. Distance between subdistrict head residence and the office is one of the obstacle in carrying his duties.
Based on the discussion, suggestions given are 1) the need for better approach and greater attention to the people. In addition, subdistrict head�s frequency of attendance also need to be highlighted for a better service in the future. 2) an extra monitoring to the employes. In effort to provide a good service, aspiration box is also needed. 3) technology utilization should be considered as important because its impact in improving service. 4) have a better capability to know the people especially the young one who often behave deviant by giving information and a right guidance through socialization and direct approach.
