Summary: | In 2001, World Health Organization (WHO) stated that it is best to provide exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months since as a perfect meal for the baby. Klaten regency has been conducting Initiation of Early Breastfeeing and exclusive breastfeeding program since 2007. Klaten also has attracted the attention of the official, due its increasing of exclusive breast milk sufficiency, from 29% in 2007 into 76% in 2011. Unfortunately, Klaten must not be satisfied by its achievment, because its still unable to reach 80% of national target. This research uses social learning theory, explaining human behavior from mutual continous interaction between cognitive, environmental and behavior factors. Midwife, breastfeeding conselor, and family become external factors for the mother. They influence the mothers behavior for exclusive breastfeeding. Moreover, the mother is also exposed by information of formula milk from television advertising. Unfortunately, it is proofed to have no effect on the mothers behavior for exclusive breastfeeding. The cognitive factor is the one that emerges within a person. The outcome expectancy and self-efficacy are the factors that influence someones behavior. The expectancies regarding the result caused by certain behavior (outcome expectancy), and someones faith on thei ability of behaving (self-efficacy), become the someones consideration for behaving. The outcome expectancy and self efficacy is proofed to be valid in influencing mothers behavior of exclusive breastfeeding. |
