Summary:Background: Mount Merapi eruption that occured in 2010 is the disaster and was traumatic incident. One of the vulnerable populations affected by disaster are children. Children are at risk of experiencing depression and post traumatic stress. Some of the characteristics of the children who experienced depression is aggressive behavior, withdrawl and tend to be alone, one of which can cause a disruption in the social skills. One of the efforts to improve the ability of socialization in children is local cultural wisdom games. Objective: The study aimed to identify influence games based on local cultural wisdom to of social skill of kindergarten student at dwelling in Cangkringan Sleman Yogyakarta. Methods: The study was quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test control group design. This research was conducted in the area after the eruption of Merapi at kindergarten PKK Kuncup Mekar and TK ABA Balong in February- May 2014. Sample was children age 4-6 years old from 2 kindegarten near the dwelling that consist of 49 children TK PKK Kuncup Mekar as the intervention group and 49 respondents TK ABA Balong as control group. This research uses the instrument in the form of guidelines on children's Social Skills of observation and parametric t-test. Results: There was significant difference between intervention group and control group. Before intervention of local cultural wisdom games, the average score social skills was 17,83± 4,70 in the intervention group and 18,57±4,40 in control group. After intervention, the average score was 25,57± 2.84 (p = 0.001) in intervention group and 19,32± 3.96 (p = 0,057) in control group. Conclusion: There was influence of games based on local cultural wisdom to social skill of kindergarten children at dwelling in Cangkringan Sleman Yogyakara.
