Summary:Indonesia have high biodiversity of invertebrate fauna including mites. In soil, mites help to decomposition process, their consumer organic matter. Integrated waste disposal Piyungan is center waste in Yogyakarta. The purpose of this research is to study diversity of soil mites, role in soil and enviromental factor such a soil temperature and soil pH affect to the abundance of soil mites. Method of this research was take 4 located is zone 1, zone 2, zone 3 and zone for processing waste in TPST Piyungan, each location collected fifteen samples, the samples was isolated using barlese tullgreen, prepared and identified in laboratory of parasitology UGM. Result of this research was 13 family, 19 species mites in TPST Piyungan that is Haemolaelaps sp., Gigantolaelaps sp., Androlaelaps sp., Macrocheles sp., Acarus sp., Glycyphagus sp., Histiostoma sp., Scheloribates sp., Ischeloribates sp., Peloribates sp., Dynatozetes sp., Mochloribatula sp., Allogalumna sp., Neopilizetes sp., Pergalumna sp., Bdella sp., Damaeus sp., and Uropoda sp. role in TPST Piyungan is Parasite, Predator, Saprophagous, Fungivore, and Bacterivore and enviromental factor affect abundance of soil mites
