| Summary: | Plan to develop Tanjung Lesung region into a Tourism Special Economic Zone (KEK) has been established through Government Ordinance (PP) number 26 year 2012, and the development plan in the region has caused responses among coastal communities. Their response such as perceptions, participations, and expectations need to be considered by other stakeholders because it can affect the successful implementation of the development plan that will be implemented. This research is aimed to examine coastal communities perceptions about KEK Tourism development plan in Tanjung Lesung, analyzing the form of their participations in the development plan, identifying the factor that influence their participation, also examine their expectations of the development plan.
This research was conducted using a survey method with interview of 52 heads of households in 6 villages wich included in the planning area. In determining sample of respondents the sample technique that is used was quota sampling. Data that has been obtained then analyzed descriptively.
Based on the data obtained can be known that most of the community in Tanjung Lesung wich 69% have negative perceptions about KEK Tourism development plan in the region. Public participation in meetings related to the development planning also tended to be passively and economic factor known to be the reason of their participation. Most of the people in Tanjung Lesung wich 69% also stated that they will not provides support and expect that KEK Tourism development plan in the region not implemented. Lack of information dissemination to all levels of society causing different responses to the plan. |
