Description
Summary:Community forest has a potential as carbon stock and has a role in the climate change mitigation also has implication to increase the communitys income. The plant species usually cultivated is the long term one, theres no cultivated yet fast growing species, such as caliandra that cultivated to make it become wood pellet. However, the availability of data related to carbon content of caliandra species in community forest still rare. Thus, the potential carbon content needs to be measured to obtain accurate data related to carbon stock of caliandra species in community forest and the role in reducing carbondioxide gas emission. The study aimed to investigate the proportion of biomass and carbon stock in caliandra organ, to establish biomass and carbon allometric equation caliandra species, to investigate the potention of biomass and carbon and reserve during the rotation, analize opportunity caliandra species in community forest in reducing carbondioxide gas emission. The study was conducted in the community forest of Geger Distric, Bangkalan Region, East Java. Data collection was done with direct measurement in the field trough the inventory of caliandra plant, desdructive sampling method employed to 19 tree sample selected. The carbon content test was conducted with the method of walkey and black with spectrophotometry. The estimation of potential biomass and carbon in the community forest used the allometric equation established from this study. The study result showed that the above ground and caliandra root biomass allometric equation are Wag=32,003(dbh)2,686 (R2=0,963 and SEE=0,371) and Wr=7,157 (dbh)2,550 (R2=0,963 and SEE=0,371) the above ground kaliandra root carbon equation are Cag=12,620(dbh)2,721 (R2=0,962 and SEE=0,378) and Cr=3,126(dbh)2,500 (R2=0,926 and SEE=0,496). The potential biomass stock was 147,56 ton/ha, carbon 64,95 ton/ha. CO2 absorption was 153,87 ton/ha. The potential caliandra CO2 absorption in community foresthas opportunity to reducing carbondioxide gas emission.
