Miq.) was intended to determine what level of shade and how many cuttings to be planted to maximize symplisium yield and potassium content. The study was set up in Sinduadi Village, District of Mlati, Sleman Regency. It was a pot experiment in split-plot with three replicates. Main plot was^hSding level : 25% and 50%, while sup-plot was cutting number to plant: 1,2 and 3 cuttings per polybag. Each replicate consisted ofninepolybags. Shade was produced by putting a plastic paranet dome cover. Cutting of 20 cm length were from medium old branches. Growing medium was mixture of soil, sand, and compost at 3:1:1. Manufactured fertilizers used were urea, triple super phosphate, and KC1. Cultivation included watering and removal of flowers that appeared before harvest. Shoots were harvested three times: 8,11 and 14 weeks after planting. The results indicated the absence of interaction between shading level and cutting number to plant. Shading led plants grow taller producing greater fresh shoot weight and total potassium yield. Planting up to three cuttings lowered harvested branch number, shoot fresh weight, and per plant symplisium dry weight resulting in no increased of yield on per polybag basis compared to single cutting planting. Total potassium content, however, increased with greater number of cuttings to plants.
