Summary:Radiography can be used to help diagnosing diseases in the medical domain. Generally radiograph image is still in blur condition. So the image needs to be enhanced to eliminate or to reduce the blur. This purpose can be carried out by computer aided tool. The computer program is developed to carry out digital image enhancement processing. Fuzzy histogram hyperbolization is one of methods for digital image enhancement. There are three steps in this method i.e. image fuzzification, modification of membership value and defuzzification. These steps have been carried out in this research. The result of the image enhancement processing is used as a preliminary process for detecting defects on an image. The detection of defect on the image is carried out by template matching. The result of this research shows that fuzzy histogram hyperbolization method can be used to carry out the digital image enhancement successfully. The Enhanced image is shown pictorially in the computer screen as well as the original image. The enhanced image can be compared with the original image directly. Having the enhanced image, the template matching technique then has been used to detect the defect on the radiograph image successfully.
